Sunday morning came too slowly.
Chisom had barely slept. The logbook was now hidden under her mattress, and the note from the detention room lay on her desk like a warning written in fire. Every time she closed her eyes, she heard that voice again:
“Chisom… you’re not supposed to be looking through things that aren’t yours.”
She didn’t know who it belonged to, but one thing was clear — someone knew what she had found. And they were watching.
🗂 The Mysterious Message
At 10:17 a.m., she got the message:
Library. Back left table. Come alone. – D
Dapo. The Head Boy. The school’s golden student. Top of the class. Model citizen. But now… a suspect.
Chisom slipped into the silent library, heart pounding. Dapo was already there — sleeves rolled, reading a physics textbook like nothing was wrong.
He looked up calmly.
“You got the note,” he said.
She didn’t sit.
“You left it?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
He sighed.
“Because I saw what you did. The tile. The logbook. I knew someone would eventually. I just didn’t expect it to be you.”
🔍 Dapo’s Confession
“You’ve seen the book?” she asked.
“Twice. First time in SS1, real detention. Found the tile. Too scared to take it. Second time — I faked it. Went back to be sure it was real.”
Chisom leaned in.
“You knew Kunle?”
Dapo nodded.
“He was my roommate.”
That stopped her cold.
“He said he had proof. Something dark in Block C. Asked me to come. I said no. He went alone. Next day — gone.”
The school claimed his parents withdrew him. But according to his cousin? They never saw him again.
🔺 The Triangle Code
“The red triangle,” Dapo continued. “It’s not random. It marks students who saw too much… and didn’t make it out.”
“Do you think we’re in danger?” Chisom whispered.
“We’ve always been. Now you just know.”
He reached into his backpack and handed her a flash drive.
“Backups. From Kunle’s locker. Photos, scans. Before they wiped it.”
Chisom hesitated.
“Why trust me?”
“Because if I go missing next… someone has to carry on.”
He turned to leave, but she stopped him.
“One last thing. Who’s behind it all?”
“I used to think it was just the Headmistress. But now… I keep seeing a name. Dr. Musa. Not on school records. But someone everyone seems to report to.”
He left without another word.
💻 The Flash Drive
Back in her dorm, Chisom opened the drive on her laptop.
A folder: HF-StJames
Inside:
A photo titled “Project Ascendancy – Phase 2. Authorized by D.M.”
An image of a student on a medical bed, dated 2016.
And then… a video.
She clicked play.
It was Kunle.
“If you’re seeing this, I’m probably gone. The school… it’s not just a school. It’s a lab. Behavior experiments. Score tracking. Intelligence manipulation…”
“If I disappear, find Dapo. If he’s gone…”
“Find the room under the old chapel.”
“And whatever you do — don’t trust the school counselor.”
The screen went black.
🚨 Another Warning
Her phone buzzed.
New message.
We warned you. Next time, there won’t be a warning.
Sender: Unknown
Chisom froze.
There was no turning back now.
