Previous Episode: Episode 2 – The Boy Who Vanished
The school was silent.
Too silent.
Chisom lay in bed, eyes wide open, the red glow of her digital clock blinking: 2:17 AM.
That was when she heard it again.
A whisper. Low, broken… like wind slipping through a cracked wall. But it wasn’t the wind.
“Chisom…”
She sat up sharply, heart thudding.
The voice had come from the hallway.
She grabbed her phone, turned on the flashlight, and tiptoed out of her room. Her roommates were fast asleep, unaware of the darkness moving just outside their dreams.
The hallway was empty.
But the voice came again.
“Block C… beneath…”
She followed it.
Down the stairs. Past the empty library. Past the cold statue of the school’s founder with the cracked glasses. The moonlight spilling through the windows gave everything a ghostly glow.
Block C.
The oldest part of the school. Abandoned. Locked off after the “electrical fire” five years ago — or so they claimed.
She reached the rusted door.
Locked.
But someone had broken part of the wooden frame. Just enough to slip through.
She squeezed inside.
It was freezing.
The whispering was louder now. Not just one voice… but many, overlapping, whispering fragments of names, numbers, warnings.
Then—
She saw it.
A hatch. Half-covered by an old rug and pieces of fallen ceiling. Just as Kunle had written.
The tunnel.
She knelt and pulled it open. Cold air rushed out — stale, damp, and heavy with secrets.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed.
No Caller ID.
She answered.
No voice.
Just breathing.
Then a whisper:
“We see you.”
The call ended.
Footsteps echoed behind her.
She turned.
No one.
She looked back at the tunnel. Into the darkness.
And then she climbed down.
